History of Suez University

The roots of Suez University date back to the colleges that were originally affiliated with Suez Canal University, established in 1976 to serve the Canal Region. As the population of university students in Suez continued to grow, the need for an independent institution became increasingly important.

In 2012, Suez University was officially established as an independent public university by Presidential Decree, marking a significant milestone in the development of higher education in the governorate. The new university inherited several well-established faculties and began an ambitious expansion plan to introduce new academic disciplines, modern laboratories, research centers, and educational facilities.

Over the years, Suez University has strengthened its position as a distinguished academic institution through excellence in education, scientific research, and community service. It has successfully developed specialized programs that support Egypt's industrial, maritime, environmental, and technological sectors, benefiting from its strategic location overlooking the Suez Canal—one of the world's most important international trade routes.
